Started my hike at 7:30am. There was a big group of hikers (maybe 30-40) all in the parking lot, all dressed in Christmas gear. I got going quickly to stay ahead of them. Headed up Tom's Thumb trail, it was icy in a few places. Had Tom's Thumb all to myself, the crowd was just turning towards it as I was getting back on the main trail. Headed over to the Lookout Point, then kept going west on Tom's Thumb trail, got to Windgate Pass trail and headed back east, chatted with some bicyclists at the pass. At Windmill/East End junction, decided to check out Windmill trail. Then headed up East End then back down to the trailhead. Nice day. The only times I really stopped was to remove layers of clothing as it warmed up, or to chat. Got some nice pics of the snow on some of the surrounding mountains.
