| partners | | | Met up with Daniela & Debbie at Warpaint at 3pm. We headed up Corona, which I had warned Daniela would probably have snakes and wanted to get out of the way early, and I was right. I hadn't hiked with Debbie in a while, and forgotten how much she hates snakes. She reminded me when she saw the first rattler! I had walked right past it without even noticing, but she saw it. Not even a minute later, we encountered another one. I promised her that one we got to National, it would get better. Luckily I was right and there was nothing else the rest of the way. We headed east on National from Buena Vista, then about 2/3 of the way through Hidden Valley. Jumped up to Guadalupe Ridge behind the wooden crosses, and headed east on Guadalupe to Young Man, then down to Desert Classic, and back to the cars. Turned out to be exactly 9 miles, which was about what we were hoping for. Great afternoon hike. |
