| no partners | | Went back to this area again to finish off a couple more sections of trails I didn't get to do before. I took the Old Horse Trail eastward again and then got on the Vortex Trail up to do the upper end of the Mohave Trail that I hadn't done previously, and then over to do the Tech Loop. After that, I headed back down and did the connector trail over towards the Snowbird Trail and headed down the road to the Old Horse Trail again. I headed eastward again on the Old Horse Trail once it goes off the road and then headed back. On my way back, I hiked the Holy Hill Trail again. Once I was back on the dirt road, I had only done 8 miles, so I went back up the Old Horse again to get a bit more mileage before calling it a day.
The only part to do from this end of the system to do is the spurs I saw off of the Quartz Ridge trail, but I think I'll try to approach this from the east from the Carney Springs Trailhead next time to change it up a bit. I saw at least 3 red tailed hawks today, which there seem to be a lot of in this area. Also saw some cattle sitting in the shade trying to cool off. The weather was pretty nice, not very hot, and a few breezes every now and again made it very pleasant. |
