Whitney and I got to the trailhead around 7:45, to wonderful temps in the 50's. We headed counter-clockwise, since we like to get K-A Hill out of the way first. The area has obviously seen a lot of rain lately, everything is green, mushrooms all around, water everywhere, and...mosquitoes. Lots of water around around Pomeroy Tanks, which required a few creative creek crossings to avoid wet feet & shoes. We managed to stay dry, but it would have been comical for anyone else to observe.
Sycamore Falls was flowing nicely, and we spent a good amount of time there while taking pictures. The rest of the walk along the canyon rim is always enjoyable, and the cloud cover today made for some nice views. We saw a fox not too far from the old sawmill, but it disappeared too quickly for either of us to get a picture. Not many people out today, we saw maybe 10 total, mostly near the falls. Great day, and the cool temps were a bonus! |
