Met up with Daniela at the trailhead a little after 8:30. Her younger kids started preschool this week, so we can finally get some short hikes in together on weekdays. Very muggy on the way uphill, but an occasional breeze helped. The recent rain has beat Telegraph up a bit.

Somebody must have been having a bad day on SoMo, because when we got to the top of Telegraph, there was a fire truck, police car, and ambulance all heading further on up the road.

A little while later, we heard the ambulance heading back down too. We headed west on National and over to Goat Hill. The breeze was very nice along this stretch, and it actually felt cool.

Spent a few minutes at the top of Goat Hill, then headed back down, enjoying the breeze. While walking along the road at the top of Telegraph, I veered wide around a tree and told Daniela not to step too close to it. Of course, there was a small rattler resting in the shade under it. I haven't seen a rattler on SoMO in a while! We took a few pics, and Daniela said this is why she always makes me walk in the lead. The rest of the hike down was uneventful, but warm with the loss of the breeze.
