| partners | | I had plans to go to California, but glad I decided on this instead.
At 30, it was chilly to start. Otherwise, pretty ideal conditions today. Pretty much perfect in my book. Saw a group of 6 others on the same route who we caught up with and eventually passed below 5057. Four others on the initial climb up siphon, and a handful of wave cavers at the end. Peaceful day otherwise.
Peralta rd is in pristine condition. First Water not so much. A couple of drainages south of 5024 had a bit of water. Plenty in upper Boulder and the eastern tributary below the saddle.
We took an off-trail route off 5024 and I'd say it's easier than the "official" route from the top of siphon draw. No track on haz so I'll post that part of it so it shows up on the map. It's not a route, but isn't a bad option if you don't mind a little desert pinball.
@tortoise_hiker tells me that like HAZ, Joe rocks. Tough to argue with that!
Good to finally hike with rt. Thanks for posting the event!
(made sure to add a mile and some aeg 'cause that's how I always do this hike!) |
