Fairly level walking through an area that is different from any other part of the Arizona Trail south of here. Treeless plateau for a good portion of the hike with no mountains in sight (unless you look south). There are other area in the Plateau region were you can't see mountains but usually you are in a forest of pine or pinyon so you don't notice it. I enjoyed this hike even though there wasn't a lot of change and I'm not sure why, Maybe the weather was good, maybe the fact that the scenery was so different, don't know why and I guess it really doesn't matter. Keep an eye on the trail markers to keep from going off on one of the many roads that criss cross the area. |
