We were able to contact one of the owners of the Silver King Mine to get permission to enter the mine property and hike the Stoneman Grade. Several of our members have the book: When Silver Was King by Jack San Felice that is sold at the Superstition Museum. After reading the history of the mine, Picketpost, Pinal and Silver King, we wanted to hike the Stoneman Grade that was built by soldiers at Picketpost to pursue Apaches who were raiding and killing in the area. History of the mine goes back to Spaniards who first mined in the area.
