Hikers from Venture Out met VDO hikers and drove to Box Canyon. Left the highway after passing the RR tracks north of Florence, drove the blacktop road until we came to Box Canyon Road (gravel). Drove the gravel road 9.3 miles to where we parked our vehicles. Walked up the ATV road about 1/4 mile to reach a side canyon. We walked the side canyon for about 3 miles, then connected to the AtV road we had left to hike the side canyon. We did see a couple of tarantula's along the side canyon. Returning to the car on the road, we were able to see sheep above the road, making our hike pretty special. Thanks to Dick from VDO for exposing us to this area.
