| partners | | Kyle was looking to do a hike and 9L and I were camping on the rim with a group of others, so after a loop yesterday with el aguila we opted for these canyons near where Kyle came up from Wash Park on the Devin. Crackerbox was surprisingly dry, with just a few spots with pools for Echo to splash and drink. We climbed out to the west not far from Jiffer Tank and 9L and Hillary opted for the direct route back via 501 while the rest of us dropped down the very steep entry into Hi Fuller. This one was loaded with water and features some nice sections of geology.
Bonus on the day near the south end we got a 100 yards or so from a family of black bear, momma and 3 cubs that were large enough that they had to be yearlings. They scurried off to clear the way for us to continue, which we did, enjoying the cooler temps and pleasant rim canyon scenery. |
