At that time I didn't know this area was an active Uranium mining area back in the 1950's.
Oregon_Hiker and I were planning an April 18th to 24th (6nt/7day) camping/day hiking trip around the FR203A Bull Canyon TH. On my April 18th day drive out to choose a suitable campsite option, I first drove down this high clearance, rocky, steep downhill 4x4 access road [ photo ] where I had pegged a possible campsite area for our week stay. To make a long story short, I chose a different campsite option - [ Camp Grasshopper - Sierra Ancha - FR203A ]
As it turns out, Oregon_Hiker had previously made a short visit to this Sue Uranium Mining area back in 2013 and later researched the interesting historical mining stats for this 1950's mining area (see hike description details). Based on this new interest area, I had planned to set one day aside of our now shortened 5nt/6day trip (due to wind, sun exposure/heat), for a day hike visit. The only problem was that on our previous days' hike to explore around the Bull Canyon Rim area, I lost my camera with three previous day hikes/camp pics on the SD Card so my enthusiasm for this last day hike on Sun-4/22 was waning.
I must be living right! During this Sunday morning breakfast & get-ready period, RedRoxx44 (Letty) who had joined us for 1nt/2days, walked up to me with her spare, extra nice Canon G15 camera which she offered to loan me to use until we were able to get together again .. So nice, Thank you Letty!
I really enjoyed visiting this new to me, very scenic and historic Sue Uranium Mining area and being able to now have pic memories to share
