Got on the trail just before 5 am. Temps were great once again. Walked the road for a short ways and then started my way up the slope that became steeper as I preceded. Ironically, at some point, it almost became stair like. Initially, the hardest thing was finding the best route through the shrubs and cacti. The route up the slope was there with multiple options: I never had to force my through brush during the hike. Near the top the boulders became more prominent and it became more of a rock hopping scramble. Nothing too gnarly. Reached the top and found the summit log. The pen wasn't working so I couldn't sign in at first. Upon the exploring the top, I found a geocache with all kinds of odd stuff, including a pencil which I used to sign the summit register. Nice views from the top. The south side has a decent drop off and I noticed a couple of spots where rings had been embedded in the rock for technical climbing. No wildlife, though I did come upon the carcass of a big born sheep. Not sure what got him, though one triplogs said they had seen mountain lions near the top. |
