After the previous day's rain I was looking forward to see if there was any water along "Munds" Wash. (That is probably not the name of the wash, but the wash does parallel the trail). For as much rain as there had been it wasn't much....but there was a little run off in various spots as I made my way to the Cow Pie juncture. Cow Pies is a very short trail and leads to some nice views and .....leads to the Hangover Trail. I was on a time schedule and if I had known that the Hangover was as long as it was (3+ miles), I would have turned around. Though to be honest, I think the distance is about the same from the Munds TH. That being said, the Hangover Trail is not a trail to be rushed and should be enjoyed. Easily one of the top ten trails I've ever done and most likely top 5. First, you are provided with fantastic views of the Sedona landscape, which is hard to beat. And then the trail itself offers some great interaction with the Sedona geology. The trail may be described as challenging, but I believe it is doable by average hikers. I'm anxious to get my wife out here to experience this trail and if she can do it..... Weather was great. Clouds were prominent, adding to the views with rain visible in the distance. Trails were moderately busy, but I was still able to enjoy the views without feeling crowded. No wildlife. |
