| no partners | | Was headed up to Flagstaff for the day and I wanted to check out something new to me, but also something that wouldn't take up the entire day. This worked out great. I've always wondered about this place when I would head up to the Grand Canyon. The trail is nice and easy the payoff is awesome. It reminded me of a mini Bryce Canyon, a very mini one, but there are some similarities. It was cool seeing both the red dirt and the cinder rocks hanging out together.
I always like to note the usage when I'm at a place. I arrived at the trail head probably about 10:30 am. There was a car leaving and one other car parked. I passed that couple on my hike in. When I got to the amphitheater area I had the place to myself. On the hike out I must have passed about 10 people on the way in, and there was a few more in the parking lot eating lunch, seems as though it was picking up. Weather wise, it was low 80s but extremely sunny. On the way back to town A storm was rolling in. There was a wild fire across the highway a little closer towards town.
Glad I was able to check this one off the list!
