| no partners | | I was on my way back to the Valley from the Grand Canyon, and decided to stop off and hike up to this peak on my way back. With 1,005 feet of clean prominence, this one barely qualifies as a P1K peak (it is one of 430 such peaks in AZ).
I bypassed the hoodoos and rock formations and instead went up to the summit to the east of the rock formations.
I was only on the trail for a short distance before heading SE toward the summit. There was really no bushwhacking, as it was mostly hiking through open country. In places I had to go around a bit of deadfall and some juniper bushes, but it wasn't too bad. The climb was a bit steep though, and the the footing was a bit loose, which made for a somewhat tough climb.
It was cold and windy so I did not linger too long at the summit. There were a lot of trees around, but there were still some decent views to be had.
I doubt if I will do this peak again, but I am glad to check it off of my peak list. |
