| no partners | | Another hike in the rain at MMRP...
Figuring it was going to rain, I decided to keep it short and hike only the Technical Loop in the competitive track area.
I made it to the top of T-Bone Ridge and got a few photos before putting the camera in a zip lock bag. I've concluded that zip lock bags don't like to stay zipped when tightly folded, which was probably the cause of water getting in on last week's hike. But on tonight's hike, my camera was dry when I got home.
Anyway... as I descended T-Bone Ridge, it got really windy. I felt a few drops of rain somewhere around the culvert where the Tech Loop crosses under the Sport Loop. I decided that it was slightly shorter to get back by backtracking on the Sport-to-Tech loop connector and then taking the Sport Loop back, which is what I did. I think I only saved myself about a tenth of a mile though. The rain came down pretty seriously as I hiked back on the Sport Loop.
Despite the chance of rain when I started, there were a bunch of mountain bikers out, though I didn't see any on the trail. I did see a large group crossing to the other side of the road when I arrived. When I got back, mine was the only vehicle in the lot. |
