Starting from the Trailhead Staging Area, I hiked Pemberton, Shallmo Wash Trail, and Escondido until I got back to Pemberton. From there, I headed back towards the TSA, but hiked the Scenic Trail (and the last bit of Pemberton) to add a bit of extra distance.
There were only two other vehicles in the lot when I arrived and mine was the only vehicle there when I returned. I saw no one else on my hike.
I did see a coyote as I was starting. I stopped by the Nature Center to talk to Ranger Amy when I was done and saw a javelina sniffing around near the picnic tables behind the building.
The temperature was in the mid-eighties when I started and around 100F when I finished. I saw the temperature on my wrist occasionally reach 105. I drank a little over 4 liters of water. |
