Starting from the Four Peaks TH / Horse Staging Area, I hiked Escondido, left on Cinch, right on Scenic, left on Pemberton, and left on Shallmo Wash.
I saw just one mountain biker on the evening's hike; she was turning onto Cinch from Scenic.
Hiking up the Scenic Trail, I remembered descending that hill in the rain last Wednesday. While it's slightly more eroded than when I last did it dry, it wasn't as eroded as I was expecting, especially given the torrent of water running down the trail that I observed last week.
There's not much of a moon right now and it was getting pretty dark when I got to the Shallmo Wash Trail. I decided to use my headlamp for a change. It was kind of cool as I got to see a bunch of mice or maybe pack rats scurrying about. I have no doubt that they're around when I don't turn on my light, but am just unaware of them. |
