Been wanting to get over to the box, and with >2 inches of rain the day before, it seemed like a great time to go.

Decided to hike out and back from First Water TH. Took Second Water Trail to Boulder Canyon Trail, then up and over to La Barge Box on the south side of Battleship Mountain.

Reading up beforehand, it sounds like most people get there by hiking up from Canyon Lake, but I found this out-and-back route very modest and enjoyable.

So much water everywhere! Great to see.

I estimate the hike was about 5 miles each way (unless someone actually knows); it took us 5.5 hrs including a 30 min lunch break at the pools. Caught a nice sunset hiking out.

Amazing area -- can't wait to go back.
