Started around 0745 and headed up South Loop. It was about 30 degrees, but did not feel that cold since there was no wind. I made good time up the steep climb, and when I got to the turn to Griffith, I was feeling pretty good, and decided to head over to Charleston instead. Pleasant walk along the ridge; I had not been up there since before the fire a few years ago, and the lack of trees opened up the views a lot. The final half mile to the summit was slow, and I took a short break at the top, then headed back down. It was in the 30's most of the day, but I only wore a long sleeve shirt all day, only getting cold enough for gloves in the shade of the switchbacks on the way back down. Finished up at 1615, earlier than I thought I would. |
