| no partners | | Lucked out on the weather as it was 46 degrees at our 6:30 AM start and another hiker at Cedar Ridge restroom said it was 55 degrees. The Phantom Ranch temp for the day was 96 and I'd say the section on the Tonto Trail as about 75. There were 18 folks on the hiker express from the back county admin office for the 6 AM bus. We only saw one other hiker on the Tonto portion.
Lots and lots of elementary kids on the Bright Angel; as in not classrooms but whole schools! I was going so slow I got a few laughs when a couple of kids said "mister mister did you go all the way to the bottom?" Actually really glad to see the kids exposed to the GC and hiking as I'm sure they will continue to talk about the day.
Boy did I bonk out on the last 2-3 miles. Had the will, but not the energy...made my wife a little nervous.
