| no partners | | Was surprised to see and hear almost a dozen quail as I made my way west and then as I was hiking up the far north side I saw one hawk and then two. I saw another hiker and pointed them out to her as they were putting on a bit of a show. I rounded the western humps and then tackled the steep climb from the west and south side of Lookout's saddle and down; but instead of heading back to the TH I hung a left and headed west. As I was heading below the east side of the western humps, the howls were loud and piercing. They carried on for several minutes. It was that "look what we got" kind of howl. I think the neighborhood lost a pet this afternoon.
Not many folks on the trail when I first started at 4 and then I realized, it's Friday lite.
