Yes, Wendy, I'll help out as she asks before we leave for Glacier Park the end of July.
This time I would be working the AZ Trail Retail booth.
I persuaded Ambika to still come up in spite of our canceled plans for an AZ Trail Section Crew hike on Sunday.
We drive up Friday afternoon, have dinner at Daria Thai (very good) and then walk to an open house at a Trail Steward's gallery https://www.danphoto.com/ before walking to the square so that Wendy could get something to eat. While at the Square a drumming contingent arrived and performed with a crowd gathered round. See first part of this video [ youtube video ]

We had a great bagel breakfast before heading up to the event at Buffalo Park but enroute were asked to pick up 5 breakfast burritos which we did. We set up the AZ Trail Retail booth and were ready to go for the 10AM start. I saw Doug and Bianca who I had worked with last year in the food booth. This year, the pizza and beverages would be served via trucks just outside the gate to Buffalo Park. I think this worked well. This year there were water jugs set up for people to get water inside the premises instead of having to buy it. There were double the booths year with lots of activities. https://aztrail.org/events/azt-day-flagstaff/

Ambika, Ellen and me worked our booth https://aztrail.org/store/ for most of the day altho I took a lunch break to get some great Fratelli's pizza and drink a Wanderlust beer. Both were great. I took pictures here and there in case the ATA needed any. There was a great band, Viola & The Brakemen. Lots of people were purchasing raffle tickets and we also had some retail sales. FYI - if you like the AZ Trail tee shirt; it is my understanding that once they are sold out, a new design is in the works. At this event we had a special that you got a free AZ Trail coffee mug with a $100 membership. It's a nice mug too.

While there we saw fellow HAZers Elizabeth and ABC Organizer head Corwin and his wife. There were others there from Facebook's Arizona Hikers too altho I didn't see them but I saw their posts. Other HAZer volunteers were Shawn, Tracy, Roger, and Donovan. In fact, Shawn and Tracy are working Arizona Trail events on weekends for six weeks straight including two hiking weekends (over Labor Day and upcoming Arizona Trail in a Day Oct 6). By the way, feel free to participate. There can always be more than one set of people hiking the various sections: https://aztrail.org/events/50th-anniver ... -in-a-day/

We concluded our day with a nice dinner at Nomads and Sunday Wendy had another Arizona Trail event while Ambika and me did a hike up by Rogers Lake Natural area.

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
