I invited Mike G aka SUICIDEKING to come along as well. He was the leader of the hike for sure. We set a nice pace and enjoyed near perfect weather the entire hike.
A 5am start kept us in the shadows on the way up the Wind Cave Trail. We go the sunshine once we hit the ridgeline. A nice cool breeze kept things very comfortable all along the ridgeline.
I have been nursing a sprained ankle for over a month. I twisted it really bad hike Devils Canyon back in late March. I was out taking night pictures on Saturday and twisted it again. So, I was a limpy-gimpy hiker all along this hike. I paid for that later when I got home as it swelled up pretty good. Time to take it easy.
I really love this hike. It offers a little of everything. Nice easy portions, rock scrambling, some nice elevation gain, and excellent views up top. The path is very clear now. The word is out, I guess. The path we took down to get on Pass Mountain Loops was a little sketchy. Lots of loose scree, but we all made it fine.
All in all, an excellent day with some excellent people. If you are looking for a short but challenging adventure, I highly recommend this hike. |
