Chris aka Darth Stiller invited me to hike this one. We opted for a reverse route – starting from the Wind Cave TH about 545am, we hiked clockwise to the NE corner of the Pass Mountain Loop Trail and started up the ridgeline via the official route (that is usually down).
The weather was perfect, sunny but not too hot. There was a nice breeze blowing most of the day that helped out as well.
Chris and I made it up to the ridgeline without too much difficulty. The trail from the Loop was faint, but it was easy enough to find our way.
The trail is pretty well defined across the ridgeline now. Between the cairns and spray paint, it’s a “real” trail now. We made our way to the southern edge and down to the Wind Cave Trail. It was the usual hike down from there.
I really like this hike. It offers a little of everything, is not terribly difficult and is close to the house too!
