| no partners | | This was a 5 trail CCW loop hike on the eastern side of the Cave Creek Regional Park. We started at the P.A. Seitts trailhead and used the Slate, Military, Flat Rock, Quartz, and Flume trails. Route is shown in the photoset.
Got started a little before 7am and made it to the mouth of Go John Canyon at the same time as the first rays of sunlight. We ran into some odd looking scat that seemed to be everywhere on the trail. [ photo ] No clue what left it as some of it was quite large, 10"-12" across. All examples had the same seeds in it. I'm curious if anyone in HAZland knows.
Water (fluid) accumulated on my right knee at the 4.5 mile mark just as it did last week coming down from Brown's Peak. No pain involved but I should probably have it looked at.
We saw one hiker, two dogs with a pet hiker, seven different mountain bikes (with riders), and one beautiful horse (also with a rider). For the first time ever all the bike riders we encountered were extremely courteous. Life is good. |
