Did a counterclockwise Ford Canyon/Goat Camp loop with Barry Goldwater Peak the halfway and high point. Started at 6:30 in the dark on Waddell after parking between areas 8 and 9 near Ford Canyon.

Watched the sun rise on Waddell. Good visibility early, could see as far as Four Peaks, but it didn't last.

Saw four javelina on Ford Canyon around the dam. Just about no water in any of the tanks.

No human tracks in the wash between Goat Camp and the access road, and no tracks on the road for that matter. Didn't read the register, but I doubt many recent visitors. Very hazy toward Phoenix, couldn't really see past Piestewa Peak/Camelback. Darker on the other sides of the peak because of heavy cloud cover.

Saw a truck coming down from the Radio Summit, and it parked on the saddle below and watched me walk back down the road. First person I saw on the day until about half way down Goat Camp. Few people lower on the trail.

Goat Camp to Bajada to Mule Deer to Mesquite, and I was wishing I would have parked farther from Ford Canyon and gotten this stretch of the hike over with in the dark. Lots of car noise, and there were a dozen pairs of fighter jets buzzing around. Saw around 15 people on those trails.

If/when I do this one again I think I'd add the Radio Summit. Seems not too far out of the way from Goat Camp after it passes below the peak and a pretty straightforward bushwhack up the ridge.
