No way to cross the water without getting a little wet but normal water levels made it quick and effortless.
I could see the unique mesa where the ruins are located from afar and as I got closer it was clear a little easy climbing would be involved and sure enough I had to pick up the dog a few times to get up and down some of the ledges.
The “fortress” has an epic 360° view of the surrounding area and is more protected than any other hilltop site I’ve visited as its defensive positioning is nearly perfect.
Made our way back down coming across a lone cow elk along with many encounters of the rich and unique rocks and minerals that make up this sacred land. |
