| partners | | I had asked Petrophile if he wanted to come with me to a nice ruin I had spotted in satellite pictures. When he realized it was not too far from some places he had on his list we headed out to do both. All this is out near Globe.
My hilltop ruin was a sticky bushwack to a really fantastic place. A lot of construction on the mesa top: intricate rooms and the walls stood pretty high. But it was odd that there was very little pottery there. We thought maybe archaeologists had vacuumed it up but even the downhill sides (where pottery tends to move to and not be seen) were sterile.
We then drove to Petrophile's ruins and walked up the hill. He'd been here before and promised more artifacts. I suggested he find arrowheads and I'd find pottery. We passed 3 ruins along a horseshoe-shaped ridge crest: the ruins were large in area but collapsed and overgrown. In the end there were no arrowheads but he found ~80% of the interesting pottery sherds. Good day.
My GPS didn't tell me the whole story so time and distance are estimates. |
