Recent trail maintenance was noticeable as we headed out. Headed up Alamo Canyon where the trail drops down into it. Nice scale type terrain in the canyon the entire way so easy hiking. In some areas there was a light running of water. Took a side trip to Alamo Canyon Tank No. 1 but it was dry. Started seeing old AZT trail makers towards the end of the canyon. The short off trail of this loop was across a ridge so vegetation was easy to avoid. Almost immediately we spied the new AZT alignment and at good point we dropped off the ridge line down to it for the enjoyable cruise back to to the trail head.
Saw no other hikers and only 5 mountain bikers the entire hike. This loop was filed away as a definite keeper |
