The kids all negotiated the scramble rather easily, then made it up the last bit of the steep spots without any problems. Easy walk across the top to the summit, where we took a short snack break. After that, we retraced our steps back down. At the scramble, we escorted each kid down one at a time with an adult above and an adult below. Slightly over cautious on our part, because the kids climbed down without any problem. Once down below the scree, we turned south down the ridge, then dropped down into the wash for the last half mile or so. The road to the trailhead is in rough shape right now. At times, it used to be okay for most sedans, but right now at least medium clearance and all-wheel drive is necessary. |

Wildflowers Observation Light Lots of poppies along the lower half of the trail. |
