My parents must have been allergic to fun, because anytime I asked to actually go to that mountain, they told me no. I solved that as a teenager, and have managed to hike Ord nearly every year since the mid 1990's. Never an exciting hike, but always a pleasant way to zone out while picking up some decent mileage and aeg.
I started at 8:20 and headed uphill. Saw one roadrunner within the first mile, but not anything else after that in terms of wildlife. The shaded spots felt pleasant, as temps already seemed warm. The miles seemed to go by quickly as I crossed paths with a handful of trail runners. There are three small patches of snow left on the road, but easily avoided, and will likely be melted away within a few more days. Some ATV traffic on the way back down, and two bicyclists. Quick walk back downhill and I finished up by 1:45.

Wildflowers Observation Isolated Some flowers within the first 2-3 miles, not much after that. |
