This was/is a fantastic hike. I rate it 5 stars and 3 . We arrived at 7 AM to an empty trailhead, geared up, and ate a small breakfast. The hike to the spring allowed for a nice warm up, then the climbing started. Took a short break at the lookout point and accidently left my gloves on the ground there. Several steeper climbs, lacking any switchback relief just before the Pima Canyon trail but all good. Ryan led the way to that point but I took the led up to Mount Kimball. Reached the top and were greeted with fantastic views which we took in for several minutes. Retreated back to the Pima/FR junction and then hiked out a little ways further on the FR trail where we found a nice spot for lunch. Retraced our steps back to the trailhead, picking up my gloves along the way.
We saw no others on the trail until just before the lookout point on the return which was a nice surprise and the weather was perfect. |
