FR191
Has seen some recent maintenance so route finding was straightforward but you will still need to push through some areas and hike over some dead limbs encountered along the way. There was running water in the creek for about a mile of the hike providing some nice sound.
Short hike to the swingset
Somewhat overgrown but the hike is short so tolerable. The swingset itself is a great destination and checking out the old mining items is interesting.
Unmarked trail around Pine Butte
About a mile past the point you take to the swingset off 191 there is a old road on the north side. While looking at the area from a satellite view I saw what looked like a trail that continued where the road terminated that would intersect with FR201 so I wanted to check it out. Jackpot. Turned out to be a very nice addition to an already great hike as the trail took us through some nice pines. The walk down FR201 was an easy stroll and we encountered no vehicles along the way.
Had lunch at a small campsite where 191 and 201 meet and then hiked back down 191 to the car.
Temps were great all day, no crowds at the parking off FR177, and saw no others on the trail. |
