Arrived to an empty trail head at 6:15 and started hiking by 6:30. The trail is in great shape to the 6 mile point then gets a little overgrown but not to bad. We reached the pines at about the 7 mile mark and found a nice spot to have lunch and take an extended break. On restarting the hip had stiffened up but luckily relaxed once the blood started moving again. Ryan told me he was not hauling me out and to "man up" Started seeing other hikers near the Wilderness sign and returned to an almost full trail head. Deer Creek was running nicely.
Hip feels good this morning after doing some yoga stretches post hike. I am finding that as I age, stretching vs. lifting, is the better option. Just hard for me to mentally adapt to that change. |
