First hike since knee surgery and first hike with new pup. As stated before, the reroute really makes this a nice trail. It never gets old. The goal was the rim road and back, but we ended up turning around just before the road, which was perfect for my knee and Dot.

It snowed most of the time we hiked and there were signs of some heavy precipitation along the whole drive to the Washington Park Trailhead. Nearly every wash, or creek along the 87 was flashed or running. The East Verde was also running very high. We did not see anyone all day until we reached the trailhead where we chatted with a man from New Hampshire who was about to backpack the Cabin Loop.

Great first hike back, minimal pain and the new pup did well.
