Kids and I did this as part of our revised spring break trip to the Santa Ritas. The terrain is steep around here, but very picturesque with the scrub oak and alligator junipers. Apparently this area was my first backpacking trip. Around age 2, my dad and uncle took me up to Mount Wrightson atop their shoulders. They still complain about that, actually (which seems valid).

We got a little leftover rain during a cold break at Bog Spring, which served as our destination. Otherwise, the weather was mostly cloudy and beautiful.

Plenty of water in the trough. Some algae at the bottom, but otherwise fresh.
