| partners | | This was our second AZT segment of our three day trip. AZT segment number 11 for me. 32 to go! We hiked the northern 3 miles (in and out) before setting up camp for the night.
We unloaded the sleeping and cooking gear from our packs and headed south bound in the morning. The miles went by quickly, so we decided to go all the way to Gooseberry Springs (southern terminus) and back. On the return we stopped paying attention and took a wrong fork in the trail for about a 2/3 mile redo.
We chatted with a thru hiker filtering water we had seen a day and a half before. He had hiked about 40 miles since then. Said he had run rim to rim to rim recently. Needless to say we wouldn't catch up to him on our return hike.
By the time we finished hiking for the day we had racked up 25 miles, the most either of us have hiked in quite a while.
