| no partners | | I never got around to posting this hike. I think this was the same day that I just barely missed seeing @outdoor_lover and @LosDosSloFolks on the trail. Or maybe we did pass each other without any recognizance! I had been a bit overwhelmed, anyway, because my new grandson had been born the day before in Flagstaff, and I hadn't yet gotten to see him, because mom and baby were still in the hospital.
So, my ex and I were camped at Canyon Vista Campground, in my new home, a Class A RV. Many of you know I've been a full-time RVer for years. I used to have a little ol' Class C, "The Beast." In mid-May I bought the one pictured, which I call "The Space Station." It's 34 feet long and has a slide-out, so it's huge compared to the Class C. Very comfortable!
Oh, as for the hike, there is a lot of poison oak along the descent into the canyon. I saw a lot of people that day who had small kids and dogs, and mentioned it to several, because, well, I guess I was trying to be helpful. I mean, I personally have caught poison oak from my dog, because the oils get all over their fur, and then all over you. I am pretty badly allergic to the stuff. People seemed surprised when I mentioned it. It's everywhere, but they didn't know what it was.
Why is it that people who are "hikers" haven't acquired this knowledge, or much of any knowledge, about their surroundings?
This is why I don't like hiking on weekends in Flagstaff. On this day, I turned off onto the Arizona Trail because it seemed like it would be less crowded. I didn't go far, though. I was too excited about that baby. Okay, so I added a photo of me with the baby, taken at least a week or more later. |
