| no partners | | After spending the night on the rim, I got an early-ish start on the hike to Knoll Lake. Since I’d already beat up my sedan pretty good the previous day, I opted to start at Babe Haught off of FR 300. Also I very much enjoyed the pleasant, quiet stroll through the woods and adding a bit of extra mileage. I had been to the lake in the fall, but never hiked the whole loop around it. It’s a beautiful lake and I was definitely the only one hiking! It was quiet with the exception of the main boat launch area around the official trailhead. Lots of people sitting on the shore, fishing and lounging. Also saw a few people kayaking or fishing throughout the lake. The hiking isn’t difficult but you had to pay attention because there were a ton of downed trees and you’re on a slope the whole time. I sent rock slides into the water quite a few times, ooops. I’d definitely return with a floatie and some white claw. |
