The route getting down into the canyon is an easy to follow set of steep switchbacks with little to no shade. Once we reached the bottom that’s where the official route pretty much ends, so it’s choose your own adventure. We explored around, and there was a pretty pool down on the right and some nice campsites down there as well. We tried to continue on but it become dry and bushwhacky so we headed back the other way. We knew we could reach the canyon if we continued on about 3-4 miles, but it was super hot and overgrown and we weren’t feeling it. We opted to call it quits on this route and try a different location. The exit midday was torture since it was so hot and buggy. I was wearing an “I’d hike that” tank top and a couple deciding whether to continue down asked if I stand by the statement on my shirt. I think the look on my face said it all, but I did get a nice chuckle out of it! |
