Powell Point has been on my list for a few years, mainly for the views. The drive up FS-132 was not as bad as some online searching indicated. Rocky for the last mile, but okay for most any medium clearance vehicle. I started recording this track at the beginning of FS-143, but we figured we’d drive the road as far as we could. High clearance is good to have, lots of tree roots to get over, but we made it to the official trailhead without any issues. Again, the road was not as bad as I’d read. Deadfall might be an issue earlier in the season though.

The hike was pretty easy, with nice views almost right away. The trail drops down, then back up and out onto the point. Temps in the 60’s made it comfortable. The views across southern Utah were excellent. I wish I had brought my good camera on this one, I could have taken some really good pics. Next time. Some haze from a fire burning east of Kanab, but pretty minimal. Fun drive, and worth it for the unique perspective of the area.
