| no partners | | I'd seen this access to Cragin from my kayak before and decided to check it out from above. I was surprised to find a nice, well-traveled trail down to the campsite at the point where Houston Draw meets Bear Canyon on the south fork of the reservoir. FR139B is closed to motor vehicles so there's 3/4 of a mile that used to be driveable that now must be hiked from FR139A, which is an open motor vehicle route.
It's not far from the Rock Crossing trail, but leads farther downlake so it's deeper and wider than where the real trail crosses. And of course there's no crossing here, just a dead end at the lake. Glad to have checked this one out though.
Took the opportunity to take a dip and enjoy the water for a bit before heading back up.
Also ran into @alston_neal on the drive out. Sat mostly naked for a while and shared a beer and some good stories about cats. So almost exactly like on HAZ, only this time in person. |
