The drive into Bismarck Lake was pleasant enough with more fall color along the road than along the trail. The road is very dusty and there are some large bumps developing on the last incline before the turn off to the trail but still manageable in my 2wd SUV. Temp was about 54 degrees at about 9:00 AM. Area is beautiful and dry. No water in Bismarck which means no critters to look for. Hopefully snow comes early. Checked on some other ponds, springs on the way in, all dry. The most reliable water in the area appears to be Alpha Fia, Locket Spring and maybe Little Spring? If I had time I would have walked the less than a mile to Little Spring to see. Saw about 6 Deer closer to the hwy. |

Autumn Foliage Observation Light Mostly on the drive in and further away from the trail along the slopes. |

| | Most years with the help of summer rains there would be water here year round but not this year. | | _____________________
