Spent the night in Barnhardt Canyon at the beginning of September. My goal was to get out of the valley heat. Enjoyed cool overnight temps in the mid 60s. Low to mid 90s during the day but clouds rolled in and trees along creek provided shade during the afternoon. Heard a mtn lion scream overnight, visited by a family of foxes that acted like lost puppies. Owl sounds. Rattlesnake as well. Animals maybe desperate for food after weak summer rains. Water in Barnhardt Creek and south fork of creek although no flow.
