It's been a while since I last went hiking. I hardly leave the house. But the weather way perfect so and I had a little spare time and decided to go to South Mountain.

I started at the Pyramid trail parking lot, crossed the wash and was going to follow the trail to the east when I saw that west was also an option. That's new! The trail west went along the South side of Bursera ridge towards the big housing development. After a mile I was nearly at the end and saw that there was an option to go up the hill instead of down towards Chandler Blvd, so I took that.

It was a steep climb up to the ridge where it ran into the Bursera Trail. At the junction there was a 4x4 post that said that the trail I just took is Bursera Canyon. Cool. Something new. I took Bursera Trail back to the trail head for a nice loop. Next time I might try going the other direction around the loop.

It was very pleasant in the 80s. Hardly anyone on the trail. Glad I went out today
