| no partners | | A beautiful day for hiking in a pretty forest. Wanted to hike someplace not as warm as Phoenix, and decided to try this trail out. Glad I did. Hike to the top was pleasant walking through partly shaded first. Trail was mostly nice soft packed dirt and comfortable to walk on. Stopped for a rest at the top, checked out the look out, then continued on the loop.
About a mile past the top saw a deer cross the trail. It went up and over the ridge and disappeared. We followed it and watched it from the top of the ridge. It was maybe 40 yards below us and heading off to the right more or less parallel to the trail. After a minute another deer appeared, and then another. They were all following the same path. After a few minutes More deer appeared. We saw a total of six deer and apparently found the secret deer highway in the forest. It was pretty special.
Nothing best that the rest of the way around the loop. There were lots of burn circles where it appears that downed trees were burned. There were also lots of piles of lights waiting to be burned in other places. A beautiful spot to hike. I'll do this one again. |
