Kelly and I hiked an out and back, backpacking over night. We knew it would be warm, but this segment didn't require a shuttle or water cache. We began by hiking in to the furthest campground in the Colossal Cave Park and set up camp. Then with light packs we hiked out to Hope Camp and back. A bit of a grind though not as bad as anticipated. Most of the trail is pretty nice. Good views of the Rincons and some big healthy saguaros.
The blue moon didn't rise over the mountains until 7 PM so we missed the best of it. Sure was bright all night.
We knocked out the return trip in breezy warm morning conditions, stopped in Vail for breakfast burritos, then home.
Another very good trip. Thanks Kelly. :)
