| no partners | | I was looking for a hike to do, and since the scramble to the summit on this one is as slippery as a politician, I figured that this would be a good hike for election day!
We did a CCW lasso loop hike. It was a warmer day than I was hoping for, so I was glad that we started early. The off-trail scramble up to the summit was a bit steep in places, but wasn't too bad. There was a bit of class 3 climbing that also wasn't too bad, notwithstanding some cactus and cholla that sometimes got in the way.
The 360 degree views at the top are really nice, so we spent a bit of time up there.
Once we got back on the Elephant Mountain Trail, the hike back was quite enjoyable.
It is really dry out there. If it had been a little cooler, I would have gone back on the Dragonfly Trail to check out the riparian area in the Jewel of the Creek Preserve....I'll save that for next time |
