| no partners | | Today I was originally going to head north and hike Mount Peeley and Sheep Mountain, but with unfavorable weather up there I decided to do this hike instead.
It was a great day to be out -- the temperature was around 60 with a bit of a breeze and some intermittent cloud cover.
I took Dixie Mine Trail and the Sonoran Trail into the Fountain Hills Preserve, and then continued on the Sonoran Trail to the Promenade Trail to the Western Loop Trail up to Peak 3098, aka the West View Overlook. Once I got up there I took a break to enjoy the views, and to my surprise I looked down at the Adero Canyon TH and it had finally reopened, after being closed for over a year and a half. The road into the TH had finally been paved to boot.
I then descended on the south side of the peak and made my way to the Adero Canyon TH. Someone drove up there and when they got out of their car I asked them how long the TH had been open and they told me that it reopened last Friday. I am glad that the TH is finally open as it will give me another option for a starting point for an intown hike.
I continued back to the Dixie Mine TH, although this time I took the Lower Sonoran Trail in getting back to the McDowell Mountain Regional Preserve. |
